Of Monsters and Men to Play at Iceland Airwaves 2019

Hot on the heels of their just-released return single (the empowering anthem “Alligator”), Iceland Airwaves is thrilled to announce that hometown heroes Of Monsters and Men will bring their live show to the 21st edition of the festival, taking place this 6-9 November in Reykjavik.

Of Monsters and Men began their ascent with a prime Iceland Airwaves slot in 2010 as victors of The Icelandic Music Experiments (Músíktilraunir), Reykjavik’s annual battle of the bands. By the time they next returned to Iceland Airwaves, their debut album My Head Is An Animal had gone platinum, and the smash single “Little Talks” earned them quintuple-platinum certification from the RIAA and has since made history as “the first song by an Icelandic band to cross 1 billion streams on Spotify”.

Their songs have been featured in soundtracks for The Hunger Games and The Walking Dead. In support of 2015’s album Beneath The Skin, the band performed in prime slots at some of the biggest festivals in the world, including Coachella, Lollapalooza and Glastonbury, and even made a cameo in an episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones.

About their new single the band says: “The song very much speaks to the excitement and energy that we feel about being back. We can’t wait to share more music and see everyone again.” “Alligator” is the lead track from forthcoming 3rd album, details to be announced soon.

Where better to witness the mighty return of Of Monsters and Men than in their home country at Iceland Airwaves this November?
